Mole cricket

Nature

The mole cricket is a large insect up to 6 cm in length, yellowish-brown in color. It inhabits kitchen gardens, flower gardens and river banks. This insect is able to dig holes at a depth of about 80 cm, where it spends the entire day, appearing on the surface only at night. The best place to find a mole cricket is a compost heap or old rotten sawdust. This is an excellent bait for such predatory fish as catfish, barbel or chub. A mole cricket is mainly used with bottom rigs. Harvested mole crickets are stored in a ventilated container with soil or sawdust poured onto its bottom.
