The earthworm is a species from the phylum Annelida (also known as ringed or segmented worms) and an excellent bait for fishing such large and non-predatory fish like ide, chub, common bream, roach and white bream. Earthworms are common in temperate latitudes of European continent up to Urals. They dig long passages in the earth, along which they move rather quickly. Earthworms winter in their burrows, descending under the frost line. In warm and wet weather earthworms leave their burrows (at which time they are easy to catch), pick at fallen leaves, grass and other sorts of vegetation from the surface. They are distinguished by a rather big size: up to 30 cm long, up to 1 cm thick. Their life cycle lasts for no less than 5 or 6 years. Worm’s clearly segmented body is reddish brown with a bit lighter color on its dorsal side.
